Share YOUR Backyard (PYB)
With more than 7.5 million acres of public lands—including numerous state and national parks—Nevada is a wonderland of majestic natural landscapes, including forests, rivers, lakes, grasslands, meadows, deserts, and more. It’s filled with abundant wildlife, too, from pronghorn antelope to tortoises. No matter where you venture in the Silver State, there are scenic drives and opportunities for outdoor fun. There are also opportunities for individuals to volunteer in the outdoors as hosts or guides, for which Get Outdoors Nevada offers two nationally certified interpretive training programs. These are open to individual volunteers, educators, parks professionals, concessioners, tour guides, and anyone else who works with the public.
The SYB program consists of SYB Certified Interpretive Host Training and SYB Certified Interpretive Guide Training.
SYB Certified Interpretive Host Training
Get Outdoors Nevada delivers SYB Certified Interpretive Host Training, a 16-hour program targeted for staff or volunteers who have contact with the public.
SYB Certified Interpretive Guide Training
Get Outdoors Nevada delivers SYB Certified Interpretive Guide Training, a 32-hour CIG nationally-recognized program designed for tour guides, museum hosts or park interpreters.
