Please join us on Saturday, August 27th for a morning out at the Desert National Wildlife Refuge removing invasive plant species from areas around the visitor center. Volunteers will meet in front of the Visitor Center located at 16001 Corn Creek Rd, Las Vegas, NV 89124 at 8am for a brief orientation and instruction. Parking is available on site.

We will provide all the tools and supplies required for the event including gloves and garden tools. The target areas are the irrigated lawns of Corn Creek which equal to ~2 acres, volunteers will be walking over flat terrain. The work involves a lot of bending, stooping, repetitive motion, and lifting up to 15 lbs. Potential hazards for this project would be the heat, stinging and biting insects. Please monitor your own health, if you are experiencing any symptoms of an illness or don’t feel well, we ask that you reschedule your volunteer shift with us. If you are feeling well and symptom free, wear closed toed shoes, bring plenty of drinking water for yourself, and plan ahead for warm seasonal temperatures.

We continue to make the safety of all our volunteers and staff members the number one priority. Get Outdoors Nevada staff is up to date on all recommended Covid-19 vaccinations. We will continue to follow local health data and support the recommendations of the state and city municipalities for safety protocols and guidelines. Face coverings are required while indoors, the Visitor Center will be open so volunteers can use the ice machine and restrooms. While outdoors, face coverings aren’t required.
