Thank you for your interest in volunteering with us at the Bruce and Owens Native Habitat Maintenance Event on Saturday, March 18th from 9am-12pm. Get Outdoors Nevada and the City of North Las Vegas are proud to continue our efforts to create more spaces where pollinators and birds can thrive. The habitat includes many native flowers such as Firecracker Penstemon, Apricot Globemallow, and Desert Marigold among others. You can learn more about our habitat projects here.
Registered volunteers will receive a meeting spot map and event details a few days before the event. All ages are welcome, minors without an adult guardian present will need to bring a signed waiver. Waivers will be emailed to registrants prior to the event.
Volunteers can look forward to helping prune overgrown vegetation, plant 20-50 large spineless cacti, installing an interpretative sign, removing weeds and litter. We will provide all the tools and supplies required for the event including gloves, pruners, trash grabbers, etc.
Please monitor your own health, if you are experiencing any symptoms of an illness or don’t feel well, we ask that you reschedule your volunteer shift with us. If you are feeling well and symptom free, wear closed toed shoes, bring plenty of drinking water for yourself.
We continue to make the safety of all our volunteers and staff members the number one priority. Get Outdoors Nevada staff is up to date on all recommended Covid-19 vaccinations. We will continue to follow local health data and support the recommendations of the state and city municipalities for safety protocols and guidelines.
We look forward to you joining us for a great morning beautifying our community spaces!
